Merlewood House is less than half a mile from Torquay harbour and three quarters of a mile from Meadfoot Beach. There is access to the South West Coastal Footpath from Meadfoot Beach giving spectacular views across the bay.
With over 25 different restaurants to choose from within walking distance, there is no excuse to go hungry. Ranging from four of the best restaurants in the area – The Elephant (1 Michelin star and 3 AA Rosettes), The Orange Tree (Les Routiers listed), Orestone Manor (1 Michelin Star), The Orchid (3 AA Rosettes) - to fish and chips and all sorts in between. International cuisine from The Spice Club for great Indian food, Al Bebs for Turkish, Hooks for steaks, Jingles for Tex Mex and Biancos for Italian.
With an abundance of pubs, bars and night clubs in close proximity, getting home won’t be a problem either.

Local Attractions
We supply local leaflets for information on attractions locally and further afield but locally why not try the following:
• Kents Cavern
• Cockington Village
For those who don’t mind a drive consider: Dartmouth, Dartmoor, Brixham, Totnes, The South Hams including Slapton Sands, Blackpool beach and a host of National Trust properties. The most recent of which is Agatha Christies house ‘Greenway’. Completely refurbished house and gardens are spectacular and of particular interest to Christie fans, be warned though, there is limited access to the property and you will need to book in advance.
I will be happy to discuss your particular interests with you to recommend and help you find the best places to visit.
The local area
The stunning natural heritage of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham has taken a starring role in a short film about the English Riviera Geopark which you can see below.
