Understanding how teams work
This fun and interactive course takes an innovative approach to helping managers understand how teams work (or not). Using a professional percussionist and a load of junk (empty barrels, boxes etc.) see a group of individuals become a fully functioning effective team in less than an hour. Using this process you can see step by step how teams develop and function and the clear role of the leader in this process. This can be a half day or full day course and covers the four stages of team development:
Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing. Your leaders will go away with a clearer understanding of how to get their team to work and your teams will go away buzzing.
Recruitment & Selection - Get the right person in the right job
•Why have a formal recruitment and selection procedure?
Having the right person, in the right place, at the right time, is crucial to organisational/business performance. Recruitment is a critical activity, not just for big businesses with an HR team, but also for small businesses who do their own recruitment.
All those involved in recruitment activities must be aware of the legal obligations they have in relation to issues such as discrimination and the need to treat candidates fairly, asylum and immigration rules, data protection, employing those with criminal records, Disability Discrimination etc.
A structured recruitment procedure can ensure consistency and fairness and in the long run save you money, time and hassle.
• identify the skills and qualities needed for the post
• attract and recruit the right staff to fill the role
• ensure the new employees can help the business grow
• meet the future skills requirements of the business
• promote a professional image as a great employer
• meet the organisation’s obligations under relevant legislation
• reduce recruitment and employee turnover costs

Change Management
The Basic principles of change management are:
We cannot stop change happening
We may not easily influence the change that is taking place but we can influence how we feel about it
We can choose to be positive or negative
Everything we have done so far has led us to this point
The fear of doing something is often worse than the act itself
Understanding how change affects not only ourselves but those around us, can make the difference between successful change transition or disaster.
This one day course approaches managing change in simple easy to approach ways.
